In 2026 for the first time ever the Symposium will be hold in France. We were invited by the wonderful people at the Roque Saint-Christophe located in the centre of the beautiful Vézère Valley (Dordogne). The birthplace of prehistoric archaeology, and over 30 000 years of prehistory. More information to follow soon.
We are very pleased to invite you to the 17th International Flintknapping Symposium, which will take place from May 13th to May 17th, 2026, at the exceptional prehistoric site of La Roque Saint-Christophe in the Vézère Valley, Dordogne, France.
We have been kindly invited by the wonderful team of La Roque Saint-Christophe to hold our symposium alongside the site’s annual Prehistory Event. Located in the heart of the Vézère Valley – the birthplace of prehistoric archaeology with more than 30,000 years of human history – this unique setting offers an inspiring environment for our first symposium in France.
We will be able to knap flint directly on the site, sheltered beneath the great cliff with a breathtaking view over the valley. In addition, an excursion will offer the opportunity to visit outstanding Paleolithic sites and to see remarkable archaeological artefacts.
We very much look forward to meeting many of our French colleagues and to sharing several days of experimentation, exchange, and friendship in this exceptional place.
